The Embertec SmartSwitch™ is a standby power controller that manages audio visual and computer-based appliances by automatically switching them on or off, to reduce power wastage.
In designing the SmartSwitch™, the Ingenuity team focussed on compliance with Australian Electrical Safety Standards, without compromising on product usability, size and manufacturing costs. This involved designing a separation of low voltage and high voltage areas, set distances between sockets, and set maximum dimensions for extremities.
As the SmartSwitch™ was Embertec’s first product to enter the market, it was important that Embertec establish a strong and distinct product language. Ingenuity drew on its extensive brand development knowledge to help Embertec make a statement in the marketplace.
In partnership with Ingenuity, Embertec has developed a range of intelligent products and is the largest supplier of energy efficiency technologies in Australia. The Embertec SmartSwitch™ is the market leader, with more than two million installed in over 750,000 homes around the country.
