The Role

In your role as Mechatronics Design Engineer, you will be responsible for driving innovation and quality in mechanical and electronics design throughout the full product development life cycle in our tightly integrated multidisciplinary teams. You will be instrumental in creating better products together with our clients, from concept through production, always applying our high-quality standards. As a key member of the team, you will share your experience and knowledge, as well as learn from your colleagues.

The role involves these key responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, and Industrial Design, to develop integrated mechatronic systems
  • Conducting technical feasibility studies to address complex design challenges
  • Designing and building prototypes that meet technical requirements, client needs and budgets
  • Developing and refining 3D CAD models of mechanical and mechatronic systems
  • Performing detailed product design, including the integration of electrical assemblies and complex geometries
  • Performing comprehensive prototype verification and managing product compliance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Writing detailed specifications and documentation in accordance with our Quality Management System
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers to address project requirements and ensure successful project delivery
  • Documenting complete designs for manufacture
Minimum Criteria

The following skills and experience are required for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering or a related field from a reputable institution.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a hands-on engineering/design role within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven experience in the design and development of mechatronic systems from concept to production.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) for mechanical and mechatronic system design.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping techniques, including 3D printing, CNC machining, molding, casting, and sheet metal design.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping and integrating PCBs and electrical assemblies into mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of electronics, sensor systems, motors, and software integration.
  • Familiarity with Python, ROS (or similar) and programming languages such as C/C++.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively with team members, customers, and suppliers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Favorable Criteria
  • Experience leading a design team in a consulting environment
  • Experience or familiarity with conducting technical analyses, such as tolerance analyses, force distribution analyses, and finite element analysis (FEA)
  • Experience in robotics design
Location

Our Denver office is located in Golden. We provide workplace flexibility by allowing staff to work from home for part of the week.
