The Role

In your role as Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for driving innovation and quality in industrial and mechanical design throughout the full product development life cycle in our tightly integrated multidisciplinary teams. You will be instrumental in creating better products together with our clients, from concept through production, always applying our high-quality standards. As a key member of the team, you will share your experience and knowledge, as well as learn from your colleagues.

The role involves these key responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with teams within Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, and Industrial Design
  • Working at every stage of the product development lifecycle with a particular focus on concept ideation and early-to-mid stage development
  • Conducting technical feasibility studies to identify and solve complex design challenges, employing mechanical and electro-mechanical design and fabrication skills
  • Developing products from conceptual beginnings
  • Designing and building prototypes to the appropriate level of fidelity, considering product requirements goals, and constraints with an outlook on how prototyping decisions translate into production
  • Performing and working with subcontractors to complete technical analysis including tolerance analyses, force distribution analyses and FEA
  • Performing detailed product design in 3D CAD
  • Performing comprehensive prototype verification and managing product compliance
  • Writing specifications
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers about project matters
  • Documenting complete designs for manufacture
Minimum Criteria

The following skills and experience are required for this role:

  • Must be authorized to permanently work in United States
  • Hold a relevant qualification from a reputable education organization (e.g. Bachelor of Engineering)
  • 5+ years of experience in a hands-on Engineering/Design role in a multi-disciplinary team with experience in consumer electronics and product development
  • Experience in the design of products from concept to manufacture
  • A high level of experience in 3D CAD (preferably SolidWorks), including design of complex mechanical systems, integration of electrical assemblies and manipulation of complex ID surface geometry
  • Experience working closely with Electrical Engineering, with an understanding of how to prototype and integrate PCBs and electrical assemblies into mechanical systems
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of prototype development processes, including: rapid prototyping, 3D printing, CNC machining, molding, casting, sheet metal design, electrical prototyping, electromechanical integration
  • Experience in communicating with local and offshore suppliers
  • Experience with rapid prototyping techniques with feasibility for high-volume manufacturing in mind
  • You must be able to work with minimal guidance, demonstrate a high attention to detail, be partnership-oriented and possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Location

Our Denver office is located in Golden. We provide workplace flexibility by allowing staff to work from home for part of the week.
